Welcome to the Amigos del Cayapas Telemedicine Application

Who are we?

TEDECO is a development cooperation group at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid specialized in information and communication technologies.

We have developed this telemedicine application in cooperation with the Amigos del Cayapas Association.

Amigos del Cayapas Asociation is a Non-profit health organization, whose project since 2013 has always been collaboration in improving access to family and community health for the indigenous communities that live along the Cayapas River, in the province of Esmeraldas, Ecuador.

What is Telemedicine?

"The delivery of health care services, where distance is a critical factor, by all health care professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of health care providers, all in the interests of advancing the health of individuals and their communities"

Through this platform we will establish remote contact between health professionals in Zapallo Grande with specialist volunteers.

What do we expect from Telemedicine?

We hope to support the Zapallo Grande health team to:

Reinforce diagnostic suspicions.
Improve aid in non-existent specialties in the area.
Improve aid in continuing medical education.
